After graduating from Crispus Attucks, Janet Langhart Cohen spent two years at Butler University before being hired as an Ebony Fashion Fair model. From modeling she turned to TV, working as the weekend weather girl for WBBM-TV in Chicago. She returned to Indy briefly to host "Indy Today with Janet Langhart" before being hired to host "Good Day in Boston." During her 25-year TV career, Langhart Cohen worked for Entertainment Tonight and America's Black Forum. In 1988, Langhart Cohen served as assistant press secretary for the presidential campaign of Michael Dukakis. An accomplished writer, she worked as a columnist for the Boston Herald. In 1996 Cohen married Maine Sen. William Cohen, who was later named Secretary of Defense under President Bill Clinton. She has written two books, the 2004 "From Rage to Reason: My Life in Two Americas" and 2007's "Love in Black and White."
