Dr. Mary E. Busch is a career educator by profession. She has worked many years in higher education as well as having served the nation’s public schools on the local, state and national levels. Her many contributions and years of service to children have been publicly recognized with numerous awards and honors.
Dr. Busch places a high value on education. She graduated Valedictorian of her high school class and is a former IPS teacher and administrator. In addition, Dr. Busch is an elected public servant having served 32 years as a member of the IPS Board of School Commissioners.
At the state level, Dr. Busch has served as a board member of the Indiana State School Boards Association, having also served as State President. On the national level, she has been a board member of the National School Boards Association and served as Chair of the National Council of Urban Boards of Education.
Dr. Busch is active in numerous civic and community organizations and currently serves as a board member of Goodwill Industries Foundation; St. Francis Hospital, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Conner Prairie. She also is a member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women.
For more than 30 years, Dr. Busch has worked at the University of Indianapolis in many roles, including as an administrator in the Academic Affairs Division, a professor in the School of Education and as a supervisor of Student Teachers.
Dr. Busch earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Indianapolis; a Master’s of Science from Butler University; and a Doctorate of Education from Indiana University.
