Marion County Sheriff, former sheriff’s deputy and U.S. Marshal. He began his law enforcement career in 1956 in the U.S. Navy as a shore patrol officer and was honorably discharged in 1959. As U.S. Marshal, he received the Martin Burk Award for having the most outstanding jurisdiction in the nation (Southern Indiana District, overseeing federal law enforcement for 62 counties). He helped found and later direct the U.S. Federal Witness Protection Program. He was elected sheriff in 2002. He serves on the boards of Crime Stoppers and Junior Achievement. He was inducted into the Indiana Wrestling Hall of Fame.
